12.09.06 - We are proud to announce the release of our new EP: 'domestic'
on September 25th 2006. We think it's brilliant, of course, and a real move
forward from previous stuff. It features four tracks: 'domestic', 'White
Suits', 'First Number' and 'Juegetos'. This release will be unique in featuring
the voices of a trio of the finest Caledonian ladies. Summery twisted pop
smash (well, we think so...) 'domestic' features vocals courtesy of Roxanne
Stephens and the OSKAR robot chorus. 'White Suits', a slow dance number literally
bursting with barely-contained raw sexual energy, has a brooding vocal from
our longstanding partner-in-crime Astrid Williamson, supported by flagrantly
transgressive cello from Sarah Willson. 'First Number', a track we've had
knocking about in various forms for ages, but have finally cracked properly,
has an unwitting lead vocal from an anonymous bingo caller recorded from
outside Mitchell's Amusements in Argyle St, Glasgow, as well as mathematical
strings from Sarah Willson and Ruth Gottlieb. 'Juegetos' is an instrumental
oddity that has, in a differrent version, featured in Madrid theatre company
Animalario's award-winning 'Hamelin', which is currently touring Spain and
South America.
20.08.06 - OSKAR will be continuing our successful collaboration with film director China Moo Young. Our track 'Peripherique' was used in it's entirety in her award-winning short 'LIAR', which is distributed through Future Shorts. We are currently discussing our contribution to her new film 'Juvenile' which will be released with the support of Stella Screen. We will be posting an extract of 'LIAR' in the download section.
12.06.06 - Our lives have been transformed - OSKAR have won a prestigious
Bronze IVCA award for the use of 'P.S.I' in the government's Climate Challenge
TV campaign. We join aprivileged club, the IVCA being anorganization so
exclusive that nobody knows what it stands for. According to their website:
'Winning an IVCA Award really matters, as it can bring enhanced profile
and substantial business benefits.' Whoop-de-do.
If you haven't seen it yet, the film seems to be playing on most non-BBC channels mainly late at night or during the day, so you obviously have got a job! We recommend resigning immediately to maximise your chances of catching this striking film that combines some great time lapse imagery with a live version of our track. It's all in a good cause, so we feel ethically cleansed. If you insist on working to live, then check this link instead: Climate Film
20.05.06 - Our previous ep 'rerun' received a string of great reviews. Here's a selection:
'in keeping with the band it comes from way out in the leftfield and we love it.'http://www.thebeatsurrender.co.uk/daily/recordbox/rerun-ep-oskar/ The Beat Surrender
'...quickly puts you into a blissful state thanks to its serene beats and deliciously seductive vocals from Astrid Williamson'http://www.indielondon.co.uk/Music-sotw/music-singles-of-the-week-monday-january-23 Indie London.
'Its the sound of what would happen if you stretched the time it takes to take a photo to 3 minutes 15 seconds. Thats all you need to know. Beautiful.'

Interesting, as unnerving as early Ben Christophers early stuff, splicing skuzzy electro beats with delicate guitars and the sound of a computer eating itself whole It always builds and builds ... floating along some delicious melodies.... a splendid thing http://www.new-noise.net/us_254.html Subacultcha.
"building up an almost mantra-like rumble, rattle and grate - topped off with slightly obsessive and repeated female vocals. It's menacing, but strangely warm by the same token - a mixture of subtle electronic, electric and acoustic sounds."4/5NEP (syndicated across 26 regional 'This Is...' sites)
'WITH Oskar youll find a band that knows no bounds. Rerun is both expressive but subtle in its attempts to take you on a short journey through progressive art rock." Manchester Online

"There are not too many albums that one automatically puts on repeat play, again and again. But this is one of them."
5/5 Shakenstir.co.uk
"Think dark, brooding beats, sprinkled with wistful violin and cello. Think, clever use of sounds, complementary underplayed vocals, and furtive tunesmithery that will hook you on a second or third listen.... admire the fact that great bands do sometimes spawn other great bands."
**** playlouder.com
"...a unique, eerie, yet hauntingly dream-like quality that is strangely compelling... There is something about Air Conditioning that makes it essential for anyone who likes their music to challenge or provoke serious thought.'
indielondon.co.uk
"...an incredibly haunting sound made more exquisite by vocals from Astrid Williamson...A warm and utterly wonderful piece of work."
**** The List
"Oskar's "Air Conditioning" (Incarnation) is an LP that begs to be listened to beneath a veil of darkness. This spellbinding debut charts a virgin territory that's midway between the ether electronics of Boards Of Canada and the haunting rock action of Aereogramme. It's utterly sublime and demands your attention."
